On August 21, 2010 Neal and Seth Spradlin were flying from Swikshak Lagoon in Katmai National Park, where they were rebuilding a ranger station for the park, back to the park headquarters in King Salmon when the plane they were flying on dissappeared. There were 2 other men on board the plane that day also, Marco Alletto and Mason McLeod. Authorities, park officials, and local pilots searched for for several weeks but were unable to find any sign of the missing plane. After the state and park officials called off the search the parents of Neal and Seth, as well as the parents of Mason McLeod, hired local pilots to continue the search. They eventually found small pieces of the plane and a few personal items from the boys, but could not find the fuselage or anything else from the plane.
